Pebblecrete / Tiled Balcony

This balcony had a floor surface that was half pebblecrete half ceramic tiles. The ceramic tiles were at a higher level than the pebblecrete and over a decade the pebblecrete had cracked in numerous areas which caused efflorescence to start boiling. The ceramic tiles had a lot of cracked grout lines.

Client requested that all pebblecrete and tiles be completely removed and replaced with travertine tiles. We removed the entire surface, screeted to a level, waterproofed the entire area. Pre-sealed the travertine tiles then tiled using a special adhesive for natural stone. Once all tiled, we grouted and sealed the surface again.

The end result was a perfect level area with beautiful travertine tiles, which was waterproofed and sealed. This method will stop efflorescence from returning and the 2 coats of high-quality sealer will keep the travertine looking new.
