Quarry tiles come in two types: Glazed and Unglazed. It is manufactured with quality clay, the most suitable being Etruria Marl. This type of clay is used in all quality quarry tiles and has the perfect combination of minerals and fluxes with correct levels of silica and iron which provide the ability to produce this high strength tile. Quarry tiles are usually dark red to brownish in colour. They are fried at temperatures of up to 1130 degrees Celsius and this gives them the strength to be not only extremely durable but also pressure cleaned at pressures of up to 1500 psi. They are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Cleaning Quarry Tiles:
Quarry tiles must be sealed before use unless they are glazed. Left unsealed they will absorb stains, water and anything that gets in touch with them. Being such a porous tile, penetrating sealer is recommended with a minimum of 2 coats. Tile Tech Solutions will be happy to protect your quarry tiles then provide you with a suitable maintenance cleaner to keep them in perfect condition.
Sealing Quarry Tiles:
These tiles are very porous and sealing one coat prior to laying and grouting will save you from a lot of issues later. Two coats of sealer are required after installation to offer premium protection.
