Marble Tile Cleaning
Marble is usually used to transmit a sense of prestige, elegance, and high quality. It is widely used in bench tops, floor and wall tiling, counter and vanity tops as well as decorative purposes.
Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of calcite formed from limestone. It comes in three finishes which include honed, polished and sandblasted. Its appearance varies but commonly white with darker tone veins. It is also available in darker tones including red and black. No two pieces are ever the same and this is what gives marble the attire look. Compared to other stones like granite, marble is quite softer, also less stain and scratch resistant.
Cleaning Marble Floor:
Marble is stained quite easily and cleaning marble is slightly difficult compared to other stones. It has very low stain resistance and can’t be cleaned with any oil or acid based product as these can destroy the shine and finish of the rock.
Professional marble cleaning requires special cleaning solutions and equipment. Tile Tech has the proper solution for cleaning all marble surfaces and bringing them back to life. At Tile Tech we also offer a marble polishing service that will not only restore your marble but will also give it a long-lasting shine that will show its magnificent colours.
Sealing Marble Floor:
Marble surfaces should be sealed as soon as they are installed. If tiled – the tiles can be pre-sealed with a pre-grouting sealer, another 2 coats of quality sealer should follow after grouting and cleaning the installed surfaces.
Until recently, most marble surfaces, including polished had to be sealed with solvent sealers due to the fact other types of sealers not having the ability to penetrate below the surface. Advances in sealer manufacturing technology have allowed us to seal and protect all types of marble using water based penetrating sealers.
Sealing this rock is the best and most effective way to protect your investment. Two to three coats of quality penetrating sealer must be applied and if cared properly for, the protecting can last up to 15 years.
